about us

WHO ARE WE?

WHERE DID THIS CHURCH ORIGINATE?

Life Center is a non-denominational church planted in 1997 by Pastors Derrill & Michal Corbin. After spending 5 years in Portland, Oregon at Bible Temple, now City Bible Church, they were sent out as church-planting pastors to found this new work.

WHO DOES THE CHURCH RELATE TO?

While we are a non-denominational church, we also believe everyone should be connected to something larger than themselves. Because of that, the staff pastors are all part of Ministers Fellowship International (MFI), a pastors fellowship led by Pastor Dick Iverson. MFI serves as a source of renewal, refreshing, accountability, and support for the leadership of Life Center.

HOW IS LIFE CENTER GOVERNED?

Life Center is governed according to the New Testament pattern of team ministry where elders work alongside a lead elder/pastor to govern the local assembly. They oversee the spiritual health of the church, cast vision, oversee finances, and are involved in all matters of oversight.

HOW ARE FINANCES HANDLED HERE?

The Bible teaches that the believers should support the storehouse to which they belong by giving at least 10% of their gross income. This is called the tithe. Beyond that, we encourage generous offerings, designated giving to missions, and support of other needs as they arise. These funds are budgeted annually and used to further the ministry and vision of Life Center. This is accomplished through paying staff, supplying meals, providing teaching materials, and all forms of ministry methods. A budget report is looked over monthly by a finance strategy team which is a team of congregants that meets monthly. This team audits the financial reports monthly. An annual report is given to the congregation.

WHAT IS THE CHURCH’S PURPOSE?

Our Purpose (the reason we exist) is to do three things:

REACH the hurting and the lost by caring, praying, bearing burdens and actively evangelizing.

RESTORE them by the washing and building up of God’s Word.

RELEASING them to fulfill their God-given destiny.

WHAT IS THE CHURCH’S VISION?

Our Vision (what we are doing) is focused and direct:

Building a 21st Century Local Church Community that influences our region, state, nation & world.

WHAT MAKES LIFE CENTER UNIQUE?

While our beliefs are traditional at their core, there are certain Biblical distinctives which are core values for this community. Some of those unique values are Davidic worship, Prosperity with a Purpose, Body Ministry (every person has a part to play), Passionate Prayer, a Progressive People, a Real People, Unity, a Prophetic People, Holy Spirit Activity, and Teaching Focus. To learn more, we offer BELIEVE courses throughout the year.

DOES LIFE CENTER MEET SOCIAL NEEDS?

Yes, through many different avenues such as: ministry to the poor, caring for those in need, and reaching the lost are the heart and bedrock of this house. This is accomplished by partnering with several local ministries: Love Inc., Health & Hope Medical Outreach, Safe Family Ministries, Possibilities Pregnancy Center, Lewis County Shelter, Hub City Outreach Center and Lewis County Gospel Mission.

IS LIFE CENTER INVOLVED IN MISSIONS?

The Biblical mandate for foreign missions compels us to give monthly to support the establishment and propagation of churches which preach the gospel and train believers to be disciples of Christ. The current focus of our international missions is giving and sending of teams in Ireland and Uganda, Africa.
